Resource Recovery Feasibility Assessments

Project case study

Client: Sunshine Coast Council

Resource recovery projects, such as Material Recovery Facilities (MRF’s) are complex and prone to challenges in delivery and operation. We seek to work with clients to deliver a detailed understanding of the project and then execute a procurement strategy that anticipates the risks and realises benefits.

Objective

Sunshine Coast Council wanted to understand the feasibility for a new MRF, including site selection, financial impact, capital planning and steps to deliver the project.

What we did

  • Feasibility assessment and business case to understand the business impact
  • Market testing and financial analysis to understand the commodity market
  • Third-party supplier engagement
  • Develop technical specification for MRF design, construct and operate
  • Advisory on evaluation team

Benefits

  • Development of a tender package that attracts market interest and achieves transparency for Council
  • Negotiation of a suitable commercial arrangement for Council
