Waste Strategy

Project case study

Client: Southern Downs Regional Council

Council required their existing Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan (WRRP) to be updated to identify themes and actions that will deliver a contemporary waste management service and map the strategic direction of their waste operations for the next 10 to 50 years.

What we did

Prepared a final WRRP that integrates the outcomes of the Community Consultation process and internal Council feedback.

  • Review how waste is generated and managed within the Southern Downs region;
  • Waste forecast and implications for existing landfills;
  • Waste reduction and recycling plan objectives
  • Infrastructure planning and objectives
  • Implementation action plan
  • Reviewed outcomes from the community consultation process

Production of a clear strategic vision articulated in a Waste Recovery and Recycling Plan which sets out achievable targets for improving recovery rates, minimising food waste and reducing the amount of green waste and recyclables going into waste bins.
